The websites below are some I use for research that I thought I would list as I get time. Large sites and small sites; you never know where you will uncover a piece of the puzzle.
Ancestry.com - I think this is a good site and can't imagine having made near the progress I have without it. If your going to do much research I think you need it. RootsWeb.com - I like this site also. Supported by Ancestry.com that has a great message board and other good information.
